Richard Burns Memorial at Prodrive

Richard Burns became England’s only world rally champion in 2001 driving a Subaru Impreza run by the Prodrive team. Four years later Burns lost his brave battle with cancer, robbing the sport and his legion of fans of a true hero.

Met up with Matt Wills of StealthSport fame, as we hit the road early Saturday morning to make it for a 10am start.

As a tribute to a local hero from Reading 500+ Imprezas descended onto Prodrives HQ in Banbury, Oxfordshire headquarters, including most of the RB320 and RB5 variants.

Even at 10.00am, the whole business park around Prodrive was full of Scoobies. as we slowly drove in , trying to blend in, in Matts bright red VX220 !!!

Prodrive have built some iconic cars for some of the biggest teams in racing  , including the Porsche 911 and Metro 6R4 Rothmans Rally Cars, BOTH Aston Martin Le Mans teams, Subaru WRC, and Ferrari GT cars to mention just a few, and all these cars were on show. In fact, the only cars that weren't on show were the very closely guarded 2011 WRC  Mini Countryman, and new Aston Martin Le Mans prototypes.

Also on show was next years new Impreza coupe.

the event was marked, not by a 2 minutes silence but a two minutes of the sound of thumping flat-fours !
