Up in 'Smoke'

Back in the hum-drum of 'real-life' I headed up to London to host a two day trade show at the Lancaster Hotel near Hyde Park...My feet were already crying out in agony at the mere thought of standing all day !

Boarding the train I remembered how I used to slog up and down to London crammed into a little 'tube of discontentment', then onto an underground version of the same. In fact,  they actually closed Paddington Station behind me in order to 'ease passenger congestion'....oh, what fun !, and a testament that public transport in UK has only one final destination....OBLIVION !...The announcement as I extricated myself from my 40 minute standing position in between two carriages was the icing on the cake.."we hope you have enjoyed your journey and look forward to welcoming you back on board" .Sh'yeah rrright!....If I drove a Transit van full of people standing in the back into London, I would expect to be banged up permanently, yet these guys seem to get of scot-free with overloaded trains. [Rant over, ....I feel better now]

Some seriously nice metalwork adorned the hotel car park. The 911 Turbo is literally brand spanking new ,with the revised Turbo body just released by Porsche. Left-hand drive, it sported UK-style number plates, but witha  Middle-Eastern plate-surround from Doha - Is '22555' even a valid UK number ? The Merc is the new 3 Litre 'Bluetec' superclean diesel model....a seriously fast 'smoker' ! and the Chelsea Tractor in the background is just what 'mere-mortals' drive around in these parts !
