The hottest day of the year dawned , and I'd just got in from Glasgow the night before, so my throttle-foot was itching for some use !!!!
I made my excuses to the missus ("I'll just pop out for 20 mins !!!!"), and shoehorned myself into the Seven, which fired up , as usual, instantly !
Trying desperately to obey the speed limit , and just as I reached the B-roads these cars are designed for, I found myself in the middle of a cycle-race.....Drat, drat and double drat !, I cursed as more and more of these red-light dodging tax-exempt terrors clogged up my route....How dare they use the roads I WAS TRYING TO ENJOY !! (note to self: pop down to Guns'n' Ammo and pick up a bonnet-mounted Bren-gun., one of the ones that fires through the propellers !!!)
I employed my usual blat-technique of 'getting lost, then finding my way home ! - and found a corker of a route (the route below has been added to for my next trip), but there were some great twisty hill roads, similar to those you get on the way to Goodwood Circuit. I've also added in a route back that takes you along the epic Wantage road to Henley - (just make sure you get up early for a clear run !)
ended up heading out via White Waltham , and pulled in just in time to see this Booker Jungmann starting up !, complete with Swastika on the tail !
Got home and headed over to Dinton Pastures for a BBQ the Black Swan Sailing Club were having, and the Barkham & District Classic Car Club had a little display of cars on the riverside (Not sure I'd trust the handbrake on a 7 to stop you rolling into the water though !) - This one had an odd 'cage' arrangement I haven't seen before.
I feel the need for another Sunrise Blat SOON !!
