Ice , Ice , Baby !

After an invite from Mark from the Southern Kit Car Club , SteveC, myselft and Ian Hayward headed out Farnham Station, a familiar Sunrise meeting point. The weather had been dry for a couple of days so I was hoping for a crisp start, but not this crisp !!!!

So, where can we find some roads WITHOUT ice on !
A quick peek through the curtains revealed a very hard frost ! -It must be over a month since  I was last out so I suited up and proceeded to the rendezvous point. I stuck to the main roads, but then had to hit the B-roads nearer Farnham, and it was extremely icy in parts with quite a few 'moments' along the way. 1 mile into the journey, I was greeted by a car parked backwards in the central reservation, followed by another right down the embankment on the other side a few hundred yard up complete with two fire engines and a couple of police cars ....not good (note to self - take it easy on the throttle !)

RendezVous Point
I arrived at the station to find IanH (not wearing shorts, which is not a good sign), and two SKCCers waiting. A few minutes later 3 more Sevens arrived , aeroscreened, wearing nothing more than beanies and googles , and they'd driven in from Sevenoaks !!!!!

Ian not in his usual shorts , a sure sign of EXTREME weather !
After finding we were blocking a bus from getting round the station entrance, we decamped to the station carpark, which was covered by a white frost. After a few Doughnuts (!!!!), we grabbed a coffee at the station while we decided whether to complete the days' mission.
Yes, that is ice !!!
3 Caterhams , 2 Tigers, a Zero..................and 6 nutters !!! set off for Loomies Diner at considerably less than full bore !! - The very weird weather continued, with good grip under the trees, and white frost on the road, and what will probably be the slowest blat of 2011 drew to a close as we reached the West Meon Crossroads and pulled into Loomies car park, which, amazingly had a few bikes parked outside - these guys must have balls of steel.

Objective: Loomies

Distinguished Blatting Crosses (DBC's) to the SKCC guys for driving all the way over from Kent, in the icy dark, great to meet you all finally. will have to get out again with you guys, hopefully in a much warmer climate !

SKCC'ers arrived with specialist 'Survival-blatting gear !
