Last orders were called , it was off to Andy's to check out the garage ! (as you do !)

A series 2 Lotus Esprit, but not just any Lotus Esprit. Andy has pretty much rebuilt the entire body himself in a carbon fibre, to a fantastically high standard (Can you guess that I'm v. jealous ?) . This includes the dash, tunnel, floors, roof boot & rear deck , as well as rebuilding the entire engine as a normally aspirated slant-4. Sitting in very well-appointed Tillet B4 carbon seats the cabin , you can imagine the sweat dripping down your back as you prepare to launch (all I can say is , I'm glad you can wipe the seats afterwards !) . This is the sort of car Mad Max would drive on his day off, when he wanted something faster than his interceptor. It's not a car, it's a weapon !

...Well, no...... alongside the Esprit is Project 2 , what used to be a standard Subaru Impreza Turbo. As you have probably guessed from the last paragraph, Andy just doesn't do 'normal' , so the car has been stripped out, and is being turned into a Group N Rally Car. More on this in another blog entry.
Last night got me thinking......
....sell the Smart, buy a cheaper runaround. Go to raceline and pick up a 180BHP Blacktop Zetec, drop it into the 7 , and head for the sound-barrier !
The Esprit is almost road ready, and up for sale !
*pub brake horsepower - meaningless gibberish to the layman , groups of grown men, who've usually drunk more than enough, and should know better , spouting on about camshafts, roller-rockers, and how big their intakes are !!!!
