After buying a hoooge 6in powerspeed can from the Lotus 7 Club forum, I decided to make the trek to Powerspeed themselves in Ashford to get a centre-pipe made up to join to my 4-2-1 manifold.
All was going well, and my pipe was nearly finished......UNTIL, they showed me the original manifolds they had made for a crossflow......an absolute work of art, equal length primaries !!!!. - A little bit of thinking, a little bit of bartering later ....and we were bolting on a complete new system.

These guys are absolute artists , they can do work just by eye. The work starts with tack-welding the whole system together , on the car. The primaries just slide into the collector as an interference fit with no clips. They then take it to their TIG-welder, who perfectly seam-welds it all up. Then they grind down the welds and polish up the pipework, and they also re-did my brushed finish on my 2nd hand can , topping it off with one of their laser-cut tags:
The performance.....Dave , Powerspeeds owner, told me I'd get some extra mid-range torque and some top-end, which is exactly what I've wanted. I can hang on to the back of most faster 7's on the twisties, but now I should have the cruising speed too,and I may be imagining this, but I'm sure I got better MPG on the way back home.....looking forward to using this 'in anger !'
Top stuff, and thanks to Dave, Matt and the chaps at Powerspeed for a superb piece of automotive art !
